Review and #TeamNice Giveaway: One Small Act Of Kindness by Lucy Dillon

What can you do to make the world a better place?
If you follow me on Twitter (I’m @magic_kitten – come and say hello!) you might have noticed me tweeting about #TeamNice. If you want to know all the details, head over to http://www.teamnicehq.com but – long story short – this was a hashtag inspired by a customised necklace and a desire to spread more positivity on social media, to counteract the outrage and keyboard warriors. This snowballed into a Month of Kindness throughout February, with a suggested ‘small act of kindness’ for each day of the month.

Those eagle-eyed people in the Hodder marketing department (who kindly had me pop in for a couple of weeks interning before Christmas) did spot the hashtag and have joined #TeamNice with a small act of kindness of their own. One Small Act of Kindness, the new novel from Lucy Dillon, will be published in April this year, but I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak while I was in the office. They’ve kindly provided a copy for me to give away here as we bring our Month of Kindness to a close. If you like the sound of it from my review, I’d love you to enter and become part of #TeamNice too! Continue reading “Review and #TeamNice Giveaway: One Small Act Of Kindness by Lucy Dillon”

The one person who can never love her back…can he?

Speakeasy Presents 10 for ’15, at Drink Shop Do

On Tuesday 17th February, Rob and I were very pleased to be invited by Will of Vintage to head along to Drink Shop Do, on Caledonian Road near King’s Cross in London, to Speakeasy Presents 10 for ’15 – ten novelists (including two of Vintage’s authors) reading from their latest book. It gave us all a sneak preview of what the books were like, and a chance to catch up with some of our bookish buddies too.

Fancy a QuickRead?

One in six adults in the UK find reading difficult and may never pick up a book. For keen readers, this can be easy to forget, as it’s second nature for some. This reluctance could be for a number of reasons, but many are held back by fear of finding reading a book difficult, or fear of looking stupid compared to others. Quick Reads are on a mission to quash that fear. They commission short books from some of the biggest writers working today, that are both accessible and hugely enjoyable. Whether English is your second language, you struggle with reading or simply want a quicker read that’s easy to carry on your commute then Quick Reads has a story for you. We’re proud to present a look at this year’s releases. Continue reading “Fancy a QuickRead?”
