Kate and Rob pick the books they want more people to read.
Kate: The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey captivated me with its warmth and humanity, in a retelling of a chilly Russian folktale. It’s by turns affectionate and estranging, contrasting the pull of family with the lure of the wilderness. Astonishing.
Rob: I’m sure many people have seen one of the countless adaptations, on either the big or little screen, but how many have gone back and read the original? The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy was a great surprise, still holding up today and making me seek out the remaining books in the series. As you can see, I made plenty of notes as I was reading!
