Why don’t people finish a book? Maybe it wasn’t what you expected. Maybe you lost it, or maybe you were just too busy. Maybe you started something else that was better… Rob has never got to the end of Underworld by Don DeLillo and Kate has never finished The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsen.
Rob: Don DeLillo’s Libra was one of my favourite books at university, so naturally my attention turned to his other books. Sadly after two attempts, one only a few months ago, I’ve never managed to make it to the end.
Kate: I tried The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo because I was really enjoying other Swedish crime and had heard it was supposed to be very good, however I found it was just so slow to get going… After 80 pages mainly discussing Nazis, I was struggling and put it aside, apparently just before everything really started to happen! Now I’ve seen both film versions, maybe I’ll give it another go.
