These are the books that Rob and Kate just can’t stop talking about.
Kate: Yes, you guessed it! Since I first read it, Tall Tales has been the book I’ve championed. It’s so unusual, so lyrical and beautifully written, with hints of Celtic folk songs, Dylan Thomas but also steam punk and political rebelliousness. I’ve never read anything like it. What’s more, it’s aimed at young adults. How much less patronising could you get? Challenge your preconceptions. Try it. You’ll love it.
Rob: It’s a sign of a good book when you can’t stop thinking about. As I read through The Goldfinch, not only did I not want it to end, but I kept thinking about Theo and the ups and downs of his life. I was there with him and not for a long time have a felt so close and attached to a fictional character. Just like The Secret History, this will become a book that I will revisit time and time again.
