Put down to watch the Wimbledon Final… The Circle and Levels of Life #bookadayuk

It’s Wimbledon Final day and even if the most bookish of us have put down our books to watch the action. Despite Andy Murray going out, it’s a classic with Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer battling it out. Rob has put down The Circle by Dave Eggers and Kate has torn herself away from Levels of Life by Julian Barnes.

Rob: I’m really enjoying what I’ve read to date of The Circle. It’s my first Eggers but already I’m looking forward to reading more. It pokes fun at a Facebook-like service ramped up to 11. Superb so far.

Kate: Levels of Life is Rob’s choice for July’s episode of Hear… Read This! It’s part fictionalised biography of the balloonatics who pioneered balloon travel, including Sarah Bernhardt, and partly a meditation on Barnes’ personal grief at the death of his wife. It’s been engrossing and deeply moving. I can’t wait to get back to it.
