First up, it’s topical news. We cover World Book Day, a poll conducted by BT TV on the top fifty book-to-film adaptations, and the recent UKYA Blogger Awards. Listen to the YA Edition podcast next week to hear more about UKYABA from its founder, Andy Robb.

Next, Kate and Rob take turns to discuss events and books from week 1 of Essex Book Festival. Kate chaired an event with Kate Hamer on 2nd March, and reviews her debut novel, The Girl In The Red Coat published by Faber. Rob read Thirst (Chatto and Windus) by Kerry Hudson in advance of her event on Tuesday 3rd March, and gives his review.

We also mention upcoming events, and the novels we’ve read in anticipation – Jessie Burton on 11th March, Samantha Shannon on 12th March, Sarah Perry on March 20th, Patrick Gale on 25th March and Ben Fergusson on 31st March. Keep an eye on the blog and podcast to hear more about these writers and their books, plus some more excellent Essex Book Festival events too!
