Last week, Rob and Kate picked their three favourites from their halves of the Man Booker Prize longlist, and this week they reflect on the books that made it through, and what they’re planning to read next from the list:

Marlon James (Jamaica) – A Brief History of Seven Killings (Oneworld Publications) – read by Kate

Tom McCarthy (UK) – Satin Island (Jonathan Cape) – read by Rob

Chigozie Obioma (Nigeria) – The Fishermen (ONE, Pushkin Press) – read by Kate

Sunjeev Sahota (UK) – The Year of the Runaways (Picador) – read by Kate

Anne Tyler (US) – A Spool of Blue Thread (Chatto & Windus) – read by Kate

Hanya Yanagihara (US) – A Little Life (Picador) – read by Rob

We’ll let you know what we think of the shortlisted titles in full at the beginning of October.

We also bought some books on our visit to Hatchards. Rob chose The Little Friend by Donna Tartt and Any Human Heart by William Boyd, and Kate picked Last Night in Montreal by Emily St John Mandel and Hawksmoor by Peter Ackroyd. Find out what they’re about on the podcast.
