On Saturday 19 March, a group of enthusiastic bloggers, phone batteries duly charged, were invited along to Scholastic HQ to hear about a selection of their new titles for 2016. I’ve storified my tweets from the afternoon, plus a few tweets and pictures from Scholastic and some of the other bloggers – just ‘Read More’ to see what we chatted about. Last weekend, despite the chilly temperatures, Rob and I ventured out and treated ourselves to some spectacular sights in the form of Lumiere London. We started near Waterstones Piccadilly after work on Friday – it sounds like we avoided the worst of the crowds by doing so – and we managed to see some fantastic illuminated light-and-sound outdoor art, although we didn’t travel to see things that were further away. I think we’ll try to tick everything off if it happens again. Continue reading “London Life: Lumiere London 2016”
On Thursday 21st January, I headed over to the first event at the newly opened Waterstones Tottenham Court Road (open until 11pm – try the cocktails!) to hear Juno Dawson and Dr Olivia Hewitt talk to Jo Elvin, editor at Glamour Magazine, about their new non-fiction book for teens Mind Your Head, illustrated by Gemma Correll. On Tuesday 17th February, Rob and I were very pleased to be invited by Will of Vintage to head along to Drink Shop Do, on Caledonian Road near King’s Cross in London, to Speakeasy Presents 10 for ’15 – ten novelists (including two of Vintage’s authors) reading from their latest book. It gave us all a sneak preview of what the books were like, and a chance to catch up with some of our bookish buddies too.
